Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth. It is usually placed on the back teeth (premolar and molar) to prevent tooth decay. This material quickly bonds into the depressions and grooves of the teeth, forming a protective shell over the enamel of each tooth.

Brushing and flossing will always help remove most of the food particles and plaque from the surface of your teeth, but those hard to reach places in the back of the mouth are usually tougher to maintain. Sealants can help protect these vulnerable areas from tooth decay by ‘’sealing out’’ plaque and food.
